Permission granted to Wente staff to perform at will. All other far-flung camps should contact the author with actual amble distances for modifications to the lyrics.
Due to a last-minute change of camp, our troop was put in the highest campsite of Wente. This song was written down just a few hours after getting home.
Camp Themed
This is a traditional-style song with repeated lines, common in medieval music examples that have survived until today.
Chorus:
Yo, ho, up the hill,
Down the hill,
Up the hill.
Yo, ho, down the hill,
Up the hill again.
repeat Chorus
1. Heading to Corral to chill?
Yo, ho, up the hill.
Fifteen minutes, what a thrill.
Down the hill again.
Like to ride a mountain bike?
Yo, ho, up the hill.
Just be ready for a hike
Down the hill again.
Chorus
2. Heading to O’Reilly’s lunch?
Yo, ho, up the hill.
Twenty minutes, thanks a bunch,
Down the hill again.
Shotgun range to shoot a gun?
Yo, ho, up the hill.
Half an hour minimum.
Down the hill again.
Chorus
Bridge:
Waterfront and Scoutcraft and Handicraft are close,
And Eagle Trail is found along the way,
But if you want the epic things that Wente has on tap,
You’ll be hiking, hiking, hiking every day!
3. Climbing gets you way up high,
Yo, ho, up the hill.
Watch the sunset fill the sky,
Down the hill again.
Nature has a lofty perch,
Yo, ho, up the hill.
They won’t leave you in the lurch.
Down the hill again.
Chorus
4. Kaliama’s very far.
Yo, ho, up the hill.
If you do it, you’re a star.
Down the hill again.
King Kaliama’s even worse.
Yo, ho, up the hill.
That will finish out this verse.
Down the hill again.
